Aaj Tak beats India TV to return as No. 1 Hindi news channel in Week 39

MUMBAI: Aaj Tak snatched back the
No. 1 position from arch-rival India
TV in Week 39 of BARC.
India TV, which had trumped Aaj Tak
to take the numero uno position, was
relegated to the third spot. The
second spot was occupied by Zee News,
which had taken the third spot in the
previous week.
Despite the change in pecking order,
all the Hindi news channels saw some
growth in ratings per thousand during
the week.

When it came to the English news
channels, NDTV 24×7 made a comeback
to the top 3 slot by taking the second
position, dislodging India Today TV.
CNN-IBN retained the third position,
albeit with a single-digit growth in
Week 39 was no different for Times
Now as it continued its domination as
the No. 1 English news channel.

ET Now was the No. 1 English business
news channel for the third
consecutive week by retaining the top
slot. ET Now’s arch-rival CNBC TV18
was at the second spot, followed by
NDTV Profit/Prime. Both CNBC TV18
and NDTV Profit/Prime saw an
increase in ratings per thousand,
while ET Now’s viewership remained

Zee Business closed in on its nearest
rival CNBC Awaaz in the Hindi news
genre. While CNBC Awaaz saw a 22 per
cent dip in ratings per thousand over
the previous week, Zee Business saw a
25 per cent increase in ratings.
