BARC ratings: Colors regains top slot, Star Plus follows at No.2

According to BARC ratings (HSM
: NCCS All : Individuals : BARC
India base – C&S 1Lac+) in top
spot, Colors at No.1 saw its
ratings see a large rise to 386
million in week 36 from 354
million last week.

Star Plus fell to No.2 spot
despite its ratings increasing
to 370 million this week from
355 million last week.

Zee TV at No.3 witnessed an
increase to 263 million this
week from 251 million in Week
35.

Life OK in Week 36 saw its
ratings rise to 207 million from
195 million last week.

Sab TV was the only one to see
a marginal decline in ratings
this week to 177 million from
187 million last week.

  1. MUMBAI: Pushing out Star Plus, Colors
    regained its position as the No. 1
    Hindi general entertainment channel
    (GEC). In the Hindi movie genre, Zee
    Cinema returned to its leadership
    position.
    As per BARC data, Colors saw a bigger
    audience growth compared to Star
    Plus in the week ended 11 September.
    In the previous two weeks, there was
    a flip-flop at the top, with the gap
    between the two channels being wafer
    thin. However, in the week under
    review, there is a slightly wider gap
    between Colors and Star Plus.
    Zee TV and Life OK, the third and
    fourth ranked channels, also saw a
    rise in their viewership.

    Top 5 programs

    Among the top five programs of the
    week, Zee TV continued to lead.
    ‘Kumkum Bhagya’ was the top-rated
    show.
    Colors’ ‘Meri Aashiqui Tum Se Hi’
    stood second while Star Plus’ ‘Saath
    Nibhana Saathiya’ climbed to the third
    position in the chart.
    The fourth and fifth spots were
    occupied by Colors once again with
    ‘Swaragini’ and ‘Udaan’. In the
    previous week, the channel’s fiction
    property ‘Sasural Simar Ka’ featured
    among the top five.

    Hindi Movies

    Zee Cinema regained its No. 1 position
    in Week 36, despite seeing a drop in
    viewership. It displaced Sony Max
    which went back to its number two
    spot.
    The top three channels witnessed a
    drop in their viewership.

    Top 5 Movies

    The top rated movie of the week was
    ‘I’, aired by &pictures.
    Interestingly, the channel had also
    aired the movie in the previous week,
    wherein it featured third in the movie
    list for the week.
    Zee Cinema took the second spot with
    ‘Hum Aapke Hai Koun’, followed by
    Max with ‘Mar Mitenge 2’.
    The fourth and fifth spots were
    occupied by ‘Holiday: A Soldier Is
    Never Off Duty’ and ‘Nayak: The Real
    Hero’ respectively, both shown on Zee
    Cinema.
