MUMBAI: With BARC rolling out the
rural ratings, the English and Hindi
business news genres have seen a
change in the top slot with ET Now and
Zee Business beating sibling channels
CNBC TV18 and CNBC Awaaz to take
the pole position in Week 41 All India
(Urban + Rural) ratings.
The rural ratings rollout, however,
had no impact on TV Today Network’s
Aaj Tak and Times Network’s Times
Now as the two channels held forth
their position as the numero uno
channels in the Hindi and English news
India TV, ABP News, News Nation and
Zee News, along with Aaj Tak,
completed the list as the top five
channels in the Hindi news genre.
It is interesting to note that the
difference between top four channels
was not that wide.
English news genre
Times Now remained the clear leader
in the English news genre with double
the ratings than its closest
competitor CNN-IBN. At the third and
fourth positions were India Today
Television and NDTV 24×7
Surprisingly, Bengaluru-based English
news channel News9 rounded off the
top five chart.
English business news genre
CNBC TV18 was at the second spot,
followed by NDTV Profit/Prime and
Bloomberg TV India at the third and
fourth slot respectively.
NDTV Profit/Prime trailed behind
CNBC TV18 by a wide margin.
Bloomberg TV India was way behind
NDTV Profit/Prime on the ratings
Hindi business news
After coming at a sniffing distance of
the No. 1 slot earlier, Zee Business
finally trumped its only rival CNBC
Awaaz to take the No. 1 spot in the
Hindi business news genre.
