Ratings of channels up despite Hathway switch- off, says MSM

MUMBAI: Multi Screen Media (MSM)
said on Monday that the ratings for
its channels continued to climb despite
the switch-off by Hathway Cable &
Sony Entertainment Television (SET),
Max, Max 2, Pal, Pix and Kix have seen
an increase in viewership for the
week ended 21 August compared to the
prior week. Reach for Max, Max 2,
Mix, Pix, Six and Kix also saw an
increase, according to BARC data
provided by the broadcaster.

Refuting Hathway’s claim of the
network’s ratings getting negatively
impacted, MSM Media Distribution
(MSM MD)said the growth of MSM
channels remained undeterred and saw
a spike.
“We are very happy to see the ratings
and are confident that it will continue
to climb. It is an eye-opener for MSM
that the Hathway switch-off does not
impact ratings,” MSM MD and EVP
sales and marketing Makarand Palekar
said in a statement.

“We are feeling very sad for the
Hathway subscribers. We share an
excellent rapport with all the MSOs,
including Hathway. We have already
concluded the deals with all the major
MSOs and DTH partners. We have been
receiving a huge number of calls from
various Hathway JV partners as well
as operators/associations who are
requesting for these channels. We
hope that we are able to conclude the
deal with them as well,” added
While the spat between Hathway and
MSM continues, the consumers are
facing the brunt.
