Star Plus’ programming head Danish Khan to join as biz head of Sony TV

MUMBAI: Star Plus programming head
Danish Khan is moving back to his
former company Multi Screen Media
(MSM). He will join as business head
of M
SM’s flagship Hindi general
entertainment channel Sony
Entertainment Television (SET).
Khan will replace Nachiket
Pantvaidya, who is currently heading
the channel.
“Khan will join as business head of
Sony. He is expected to join in
August,” multiple sources said.
Pantvaidya and SET chief creative
director Ajay Bhalwankar will stay in
the company.
Prior to joining Star India, Khan was
the marketing head of SET.
Khan had joined Star India in
December 2012 as programming head
and was looking after the fiction
content for the network’s leading
Hindi GEC Star Plus. At that time,
Nachiket Pantvaidya was the business
head and GM of Star Plus.
During his stint, Khan worked on
shows like ‘Mahabharat’, ‘Everest’,
‘Yeh Hai Mohabbatein’ and others.
He had quit SET in November 2012
after a 10-year stint. While he joined
as marketing head of MSM’s Hindi
movie and events channel Max in 2002,
he was later named senior VP and
marketing head of SET in 2008.
At SET, he was instrumental in
promoting properties like ‘Kaun
Banega Crorepati’ (KBC), ‘Jhalak
Dikhhla Jaa’, ‘X-Factor’ and ‘Indian
Before joining MSM, Khan was senior
manager of strategic media planning
at Mediacom India.
Meanwhile, in October 2013
Pantvaidya moved on from Star India
to MSM in a corporate role. Later, in
February 2014, he was named business
head of SET.
