Tip: Improve dish signal reception with a funnel

Dear Friends,
I always had an issue with some weak Dishtv transponders of NSS6 satellite.
The signal was not consistent and often there was picture freezing.
My dishes are installed in the home balcony itself to facilitate alignment and testing on my TVs.
Then I attached a plastic funnel to the mouth of the feed-horn of the LNB like the conical scalar ring my C-band dish has.
There was a considerable increase in signal quality and no outage as it happened before.

Using a Metal funnel will give better results.
Also make sure the smaller edge of funnel co-incides with the white plastic part of the LNB feed-horn mouth. Try it.

how many % invacom will show us more?
upto 5 to 10% more signal quality from Invacomm LNBs

thanks vinay for information,i have heard about the Invacom lnb but never used it as it is useless to me as i do not use them much and just have the ku lnb which comes with dth.how is the difference between invacom and our normal sharp ku lnb.

    Dear Ravi,

Invacomm LNB is not sold in India, my friend from Saudi had given me his old LNB. Invacomm LNBs are superb in terms of low noise and high gain.

Sharp LNBs are also good. But their gain is also somewhere near 65dB and noise is 0.3dB to 0.5dB which is same as other local-make LNBs.

    Dear Vinay_Kumar,
in the before picture your signal is low,so was it the signal you were getting at maximum effort?
Yes even after all Azimuth, Elevation and LNB Skew efforts, I got just 35 to 50% signals. Then after seeing an Invacomm LNB with a conical feed-horn, I tried this and it works great even now.

Also a similar metallic conical scalar ring is used for my C-band dishes.

    Yes Motwaniji,
Signals in C-band Dish also increases by 10% to 15%.

Vinay thanks for interesting experiment, but can you tell what was the time of the experiments and the timing of taking pictures. Were these both snaps of signal taken at a time or was there difference.please let us know.
The time taken for this experiment was less than 2 hours for cutting, fixing and taking screenshots and clicking pictures.
The difference in time for both snaps of signal screens was 1 hour.

18% signal increase after fixing the funnel did u try with some metal funnel?
Yes I tried metal Conical Scalar Ring on my C-band LNBF. On Ku-band LNB, this plastic funnel works fine, so I did not put metal funnel on that.
