Government can easily control the prices. They just need to bring in a clause where by there shall not be any advertisement if it is a Pay/Scrambled channel.

As far as i remember during early days when Zee channel started hardly we see any ads…. it was in 90s … i think there was not much ads when Dish TV DTH too launched… after days gone by i think mainly after the entrance of Star channels   ads began to pour …
even hd channels were started like that only.
hd = ad free
but now also they started to show the ads.

So what do u want ? In Rs. 200 u should get 100 HD chs? Prices need to controlled but it cannot become dirt cheap. So much money is involved at various fronts to bring a channel to our homes
These HD or SD channels get bulk revenue from advertisers. News channels gets good revenue from black mailing, paid news etc.,. For what  they are asking us subscription? These are greedy business entities who like to get money in what ever way possible.

Government can easily control the prices. They just need to bring in a clause where by there shall not be any advertisement if it is a Pay/Scrambled channel.

DTH operators are no different. They ask carriage fees to xyz channel and again ask us some money to show the channel! What kind of business is this? Unless government takes some proper measures these people will keep on increasing rates.

Now a days I hardly watch TV and watch most of the content online. Able to chose content without worry and importantly skip ads ::D

Still most of the news media houses r in loss, there is more investment than the revenue (as per balance sheet, i don’t if there is any scam and numbers r false).

In DTH too the investments r high, also 33% of what they earn goes to state and central governments. Id they don’t add carriage chs then our bills would be further high.

Its a whole cycle, one thing leads to another and i know that everywhere there must be something dark which leads to another. Ultimately its the common people who suffer.

DTH prices will stabilize soon else already 50% subscribers r deactive and it will further rise

Yes they have increased the rates.  10% they have increased on Avg means roughly around 3.7% over the inflation rate of our country. That is we are paying 3.7% more than last year to these dth people compared to earlier year.
thats what i wanted to say in some other thread. prices must be controlled from the govt. side. these dth have been sucking us along with our money.
e.g.
adtv charges 204 rs. just for 28 hd channels. is it justified ?
all other dths have hd access fee formula – so we have been paying sd channels as well as for their counterpart hd channels as well. is it justified ?

if prices are so cheap then y do u wait for retention offers or deactivated/ suspended users offers ?

first pay full money and then give advice whether prices are cheap or not.

😆

Again u r commenting without logic. First understand what i said. I never said that prices r chrap even once

then what u said ?  😆
please pay full money to dths bcoz so much of money have already been invested to bring such …… to our homes.

and fyki all dths prices were increased almost 10 % in last fy.

231 was the base pack of d2h and now it is 254 rs.

254-231 = 23 rs.

231/23 = more than 10 % so more than 10 % prices were hiked of all base packs including hd packs also.

bro… both are different things.

now take an example out of many valid reasons/examples :

if rates were not increased but subscribers migrated to higher packs then it will fetch u higher arpu but still rates are not increased.

if rates were not increased but subscribers opted for hd packs or more subscribers were hd subscribers then also arpu will be higher.

ARPU consists of all the things which includes stb replacement costs and all other CPEs replacement cost.
it is just not subscription revenue per user. so if products are at faulty then more users will replace them and will fetch u higher arpu.

15. ARPU3 grew 8.2% year on year to INR.
Inflation in India for 2015 6.3 percent. 1.9% actual increase in rates.
