ZEEL’s Essel Vision brings movie biz under separate division

MUMBAI: Zee Entertainment
Enterprises Ltd’s content arm Essel
Vision has formed a separate division
called Zee Studios for its motion
pictures business.
Essel Vision CEO Nitin Keni told
TelevisionPost.com that with Essel
Vision increasing its focus on the
movie and television production space,
the need arose for a separate team
for the film business.
Hence, the separate division will
encompass the company’s Bollywood
and regional film business, while TV
production will be under Essel Vision.
After the release of the Aishwarya
Rai Bachchan-starrer ‘Jazbaa’ on 9
October, the company will release
Akshay Kumar’s romantic thriller
‘Rustom’ on the weekend of
Independence Day 2016.
Produced by Zee Studios, KriArj
Entertainment and Friday Filmworks,
the film marks the directorial debut
of Tinu Suresh Desai. Its music will be
released by Zee Music.
Zee Studios CEO Nittin Keni
commented, “We are delighted to
partner with Akshay Kumar, country’s
leading icon, Neeraj Pandey and
KriArj Entertainment on ‘Rustom’.
This is another key milestone for
Zee’s aggressive foray into
Bollywood. And with this film releasing
on 12 August 2016, we want to
entertain our audiences.”
The first shooting schedule of
‘Rustom’ will commence by mid-
December this year. The film will
travel to multiple locations globally in
the course of its production.
Besides Akshay Kumar, the film will
also feature two actresses.
Additionally, Pandey himself will be
penning the dialogues of the film. He
will also co-write the screenplay
along with Vipul Rawal and contribute
to editing.
