MUMBAI: After tasting success at the
box office, Aamir Khan’s ‘PK’ has
helped Sony Entertainment Television
jump to the number five spot on the
Hindi general entertainment chart for
For the week ended 26 June, SET
recorded a viewership of 236.33
million, which helped the channel to
make it to the fifth spot, replacing
sister channel SAB TV.
The premiere of ‘PK’ on 21 June at 8
pm was also the top-rated Hindi
entertainment programme and
garnered a viewership of 10.33
million, much higher than the other
programmes on the chart.
As per SET, it has been the highest-
rated premiere across all channels in
2014–15 until now.
During the week ended 26 June, genre
leader Star Plus, as well as No. 3 and
No. 4 channels, respectively Zee TV
and Life OK, witnessed gains in
viewership. Colors was the only GEC
among the top five to see a marginal
fall in viewership, BARC data shows.
Top 5 Programmes
In terms of the top five programmes
of the week, SET led the chart with
‘PK’, and Star Plus and Colors
occupied two positions each.
Star Plus took the second and third
spots with ‘Saath Nibhana Saathiya’
and ‘Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai’
respectively, both of which saw a rise
Meanwhile, Colors took the fourth
and fifth spots on the chart with
‘Sasural Simar Ka’ and ‘Chakravartin
Ashok Samrat’. The historical show
fell to the fifth spot after seeing a
drop in viewership.
In the previous week, Star Plus’
special event ‘Star Parivaar Awards
2015’ had held the top position on the
Hindi Movie Channels
The week ended 26 June also brought
about a change in the Hindi movie
genre, with Sony Max taking the lead
once again, after two weeks.
Max was the only channel in the genre
to see a rise in viewership. Zee
Cinema, on the contrary, saw a slight
drop, thus slipping to the number two
spot on the chart. Star Gold
maintained its third position despite a
marginal fall in viewership.
Top 5 Movies
With regard to the top five movies of
the week, Max once again topped the
chart. The week’s top-rated movie
Zee Cinema occupied all the other
four spots on the table. Surprisingly,
as in the previous week, ‘Hum Saath
Saath Hain’ was the second-most-
watched movie on Zee Cinema.
The third, fourth and fifth spots were
held by ‘Sholay’, ‘Dhamaal’ and ‘Main
Tera Hero’ respectively, all of which
