Breaking News :  Rishtey TV Europe hops on Freeview
MUMBAI: Communications
infrastructure and media services
company Arqiva has launched the first
free-to-air South Asian TV channel
Rishtey TV Europe on Freeview.
Rishtey TV Europe airs on Freeview
channel 77 from the Arqiva Freeview
multiplex. Together, Rishtey TV
Europe and Arqiva have worked to
deliver English subtitles to support
the programmes, which broaden the
reach of Rishtey TV’s audience to
non-Hindi speakers in the UK.
Indiacast Europe business head Govind
Shahi said, “Indiacast is delighted to
be the first to bring such diverse
South Asian entertainment content
via Rishtey TV Europe, to such a wide
audience in the UK, for free on
Freeview. Additionally, by airing the
content with English subtitles, we are
excited to invite people to experience
the culture of South Asian
entertainment, who do not speak the
local language.”
Launched over two years ago as
Viacom18’s second channel, Rishtey
TV Europe boasts entertainment
programmes from Bollywood
blockbusters to soaps, dramas, non-
fiction, kids and youth programming,
and locally produced programmes like
‘Desi Beats’.
Broadcasting on Freeview nationally
in England, Wales, Scotland and
Northern Ireland, just over 72 per
cent of UK households and Freeview HD
viewers who currently represent
around 4.5 million households can
watch Rishtey Europe for the first
DTT Muxoco at Arqiva director Mike
Finchen stated, “Arqiva is proud to
have worked with Indiacast to launch
Rishtey TV Europe with English
subtitles on Freeview, to not only
bring South Asian viewers a step
closer to their culture, but to open
the culture to a wider non-South
Asian audience who want to enjoy this
type of entertainment too.”
Rishtey Europe TV is already available
on Sky, Virgin, Freesat and Freeview
along with other OTT players.
