SET moves up to No. 5, Star Plus and Sony Max maintain lead in Week 40
MUMBAI: Week 40 of BARC’s ratings
data saw Multi Screen Media’s flagship
channel Sony Entertainment
Television (SET) move up to the fifth
position on the Hindi general
entertainment channel (GEC) chart,
displacing sister channel SAB.
The order of the top four GECs
remained unchanged during the week,
with Star Plus continuing to maintain
its lead in the genre.
However, Star Plus and Life OK were
the only two GECs in the top five to
see a drop in their ratings.
Colors and Zee TV, meanwhile,
witnessed marginal gains in their
viewership during the week.

Top five programmes

Colors witnessed a marginal gain in
viewership with two of its shows
surging high in ratings and moving up
a few spots on the chart.
Colors’ ‘Swaragini’ displaced Star
Plus’ ‘Saath Nibhana Saathiya’ to
take the top show’s position during
the week. While ‘Swaragini’
witnessed a jump in ratings, ‘Saath
Nibhana Saathiya’ saw a fall and
slipped to the second spot.
The third spot was again occupied by
Colors with its popular show ‘Sasural
Simar Ka’, which also grew in
viewership.
Despite seeing an overall rise in
viewership, Zee TV’s flagship show
‘Kumkum Bhagya’ dropped from the
second spot in the previous week to
the fourth spot in Week 40.
‘Diya Aur Baati Hum’ from Star Plus
continued to hold on to its No. 5
position despite a slight fall in
viewership.

Hindi movie channels

In the Hindi movie genre, there was no
change in hierarchy and Sony Max
continued to lead.
The top three channels—Max, Zee
Cinema and Star Gold—saw a drop in
their respective viewership during the
week.

Top five movies

Similar to the previous week, Week 40
again saw Sony Max dominate the
chart with three positions, followed
by Zee Cinema garnering two spots.
Third-placed Star Gold again did not
manage to have any movie in the top-
rated movie chart of the week.
The top movie of the week was ‘The
Return of Rebel’, followed by
‘Yevadu’ and ‘Sooryavansham’.
The fourth and fifth positions were
occupied by Zee Cinema by dint of
‘Ramaiya Vastavaiya’ and the classic
family drama ‘Hum Aapke Hain Koun’
respectively.
