Breaking News :  Star Plus remains top Hindi GEC; Sony Max takes top spot in movies
MUMBAI: Building on its lead from the
previous week, Star Plus managed to
hold on to its leadership slot in the
Hindi general entertainment genre in
Week 39. Having earlier fallen well
below the 400 million mark, the
channel bounced back and crossed the
number, regaining its earlier position.
As per BARC data for the week ended 2
October, Colors continued to grow at
No. 2, although there was a gap
between the top two channels.
Interestingly, Star Plus and Colors
were the only channels among the top
five in the genre to see a rise in
No. 3 channel Zee TV, fourth-placed
Life OK and fifth-placed SAB TV each
witnessed a drop in ratings. Zee TV
saw the biggest drop in the week, and
the gap between Zee and Life OK
reduced considerably.

‘Saath Nibhana Saathiya’ from the
Star Plus stable maintained its
position as the top-rated show of the
week despite a slight drop in ratings.
Zee TV’s ‘Kumkum Bhagya’ grew in
viewership to hold on to its second
slot, while the third spot went to
Colors for its show ‘Swaragini’, which
re-entered the list in Week 39. Colors
also bagged the fourth position with
‘Sasural Simar Ka’, which saw a slight
fall in ratings.
Star Plus too got two positions on the

growing in ratings to round off the
top five shows.

Hindi movie channels

The Hindi movie genre witnessed a
shift at the top in the week ended 2

the week, it slipped to No. 2 on the
chart. This gave an advantage to Sony
Max, which managed to regain its lead
in the genre on the back of positive

gain in viewership, making Zee Cinema
the only channel among the top three
in the genre to see a drop in ratings.

Top 5 movies

In Week 39, the top movie chart was
dominated by Sony Max and Zee
Cinema as the channels bagged three
and two spots respectively.
Bollywood star Aamir Khan seems to be
doing the trick for Sony Max. In the
previous week, the channel led the
