1. Snow will fall of the dish in most cases as dish will be nearly slanted.

2. But what about snow ?? In thoose places how they manage ?

By the way how the western countries solve the rain issues in KU band ?
For them rain itself is less and the rain droplet size also lot lesser than what we get. London average yearly rain is just 60cms! When people in Tropics like South India or Srilanka or Malayasia with lot higher rain manage whats the problem for them? Idukki average rain is over 500cms!

Typo corrected.

5. indian govt will have no object if its free dth service

but they will get problem if abs start some special πŸ˜† channel such as from hotbird

6. I was asking for need of DTH License if they didnt encrypt those channels/services. i think no need . πŸ˜›

The size of Dish we need in India is 45 cm approximately. This shows the signal quality performance.perhaps the D2H Demo Dish Too get good signals πŸ˜€
The dish i am using to this satellite is old dish tv dish which was like oval shape.

11. If they didn’t encrypt the signals then ?? ?

12. But they wont have permission to downlink in India.. as currently no DTH has got new license in India

13. while surfing the net i read some where that abs started ABS-International-Free-DTH-Service on its abs2

i do not know how much its true

Hits is for cable operator and for them to get continuous transmission it will be on c band and not on ku band
Thats what i asked with ASM here for JAIN HITS (NSPTL) whether it is just limited to Cband.. he said as per their norms and policies they can carry even on KU band .

18. yes the issues is with rain fade and so on like that which we face in DTH .. but how about just possibility of using bigger size dish for KU band ?

HITS players have been allowed a foreign direct investment (FDI) of up to 74%, on par with the telecom sector. They can operate on either C band or Ku Band (till now reserved for direct-to-home)

19. If the HITS provider install bigger dish then probably the service doesn’t get issues

20. Hits is for cable operator and for them to get continuous transmission it will be on c band and not on ku band

21.
β€œWe want to test our services and make sure that the set top boxes (STBs) are of top quality. There have been a lot of issues with the boxes all across the country and so we want to subject the STBs to all kinds of heat, cold and dust test,” he added
he forgot Flu πŸ˜€ (just kidding)

dont know what type of STB they will bring

22. That’s great news . As i doubted of HITS , KU band also can be used for HITS now. So the confusions are almost gone .

23. Got some info that HITS can be used in even KU band also and some saying that it might be Hinduja HITS

And here report says the testing may start in January 2015 and we got these 2 tps in january ..

tony d’silva ( former Sun Direct ) is now MD and CEO here

Hinduja Ventures has planned to run the field testing of Headend in the Sky (HITS) platform in January-February 2015 in India. It will officially roll out the service by April 2015. It has planned to captivate over eight to ten million subscribers during the testing phase.

β€œWe are working as per the plan and are on schedule. By the time we launch, we will have close to 8-10 million consumers being serviced through our HITS platform” said Tony D’silva, MD and Group CEO of IMCL.

β€œWe want to test our services and make sure that the set top boxes (STBs) are of top quality. There have been a lot of issues with the boxes all across the country and so we want to subject the STBs to all kinds of heat, cold and dust test,” he added.

The company has planned to enter into an annual maintenance contract (AMC) for set-top-boxes. The company is the third company in India to receive a HITS licence after Essel Group and Noida Software Technology Park

24. Right, They are called as Premium DTH by few . so they might choose new Dish Instead of MB LNB. πŸ˜›
Perhaps the DVR system of recording also effect in MB LNB. just a guess only.

25. As it is tatasky i dont think they will use such mono block but will instead give new Dish antenna itself

26. Won’t Tatasky use Mono Block like Dish to get ABS 2? πŸ˜€

Has anybody noticed Subtitles in Trace Sports HD channel in ABS 2.

We have the option of changing the subtitles and also we can off it. I think 3 language subtitles (French, Malay and Chinese) are available.

ABS 2 has 54 Mhz as well as 108 MHz TP’s, Insat 4A only has 3 Mhz TP’s so depending on what kind of transponders Tata Sky gets on ABS 2, even 12 or 15 TP’s would be enough as 54 Mhz TP’s would give Tata Sky 50 percent more space on each TP while if they get 108 Mhz TP then they would get 3 times more space on each TP

32. 1 more confusion arises if Tatasky migrating to ABS2. All know that a new TP is coming in NIT Scan 11320 H 27500 . no signal in this TP till now. This TP cant be added or activated from ABS Because the line up starts from 11700 MHz itself. so what will be the future of TP 11320 H ? why they added in their Network ?

33. i read that some bangladesh dth got license to launch services and pakistani too.
but dd and tamil channels here are raising questions alot.

34. Thanks MJ Bro, now chances of Tata Sky are even more all other ops are fixed to some or other satellites

35. Right, Just now spoke to HITS incharge here, he gave some information that Jain HITS is running from IS902 at 62E.

And Recently one more company named Hinduja HITS got license and they are in talks with Thai satellite.

36. hits will not use ku band they will only use c band in india

37. what about Hits? i have no idea .

38. If its for Indian DTH then must be for TS or maybe some new DTH got license?

39. Actually its old news which i found. the date was November 12, 2014 . The launch may be delayed.
I have told because of all channels are having ABS as provider name . this means all the channels are from ABS itself. this matches with the old news i got.
I am also concerned and confused about the DD and Tamil channels in the lineup.

40. This does not provide an answer bro. Firstly, the beam testing these Tamil, DD channels is the Indian Beam and not the Russian One and secondly MTS is lancing thier service at the end of th year so why would they test now and that too with tamil and dd channels?

41. By the way i have a doubt on 108Mhz TP. is this 54×2 ie: Horizontal +Vertical TP of same numbers ?

43. He mentioned about Subtitles and those might differ than Audio options i think

44. Of 51 Transponders it should be shared for these 6 Beams.

Ku-band India beam (active)
Ku-band MENA beam (active)
Ku-band Russia Beam (active)
Ku-band South Africa beam (active)
Ku-band South Korea/SEA beam (active)
Ku-band Southern beam (active)

Will Indian beam get 15-20 TPs ?

Can you get info regarding how many KU tps are allocated on ABS 2 ? Means how many KU band freq this satellite has?
It has 51 Ku band TP’s in total, 25 r in use already. 26 left, i guess few of these are for India Beam and Tata Sky will use atleast 15 or 18 in the long run

52. One more aspect that existing Tatasky TPs are of 36 Mhz and ABS2 is having 54Mhz as you said Anil bhai.how can they continue the existing TPs ? any idea?

53. AFAIK The Low band TP ie: upto 11699 is for Insat 4CR. For ABS2 it starts from 11700 itself.it’s because Both Insat 4CR and ABS2 is almost co-located orbit.for Indian Beam . correct me if wrong. If i am right then no chance of changing the SR of existing TP by Tatasky if they choose ABS2.

54. one i have notice

as abs2 freq are

11734 H 44000 , DVB S
11794 H 44000, DVB S

tatasky freq on insat 4a are

10970 32000 H
11010 27500 H
11050 32000 H
11090 32000 H
11130 32000 H
11170 32000 H
11470 32000 H
11510 32000 H
11550 32000 H
11590 32000 H
11630 32000 H
11670 32000 H

as the last freq of insat4a is 11670 and tp in abs is 11734 difference is 60+ as its sr is 44000

so it shows a continuation if tatasky are planning to migrate to abs then they can change old tps sr from 32000 to 44000

and also when a migration from one sat to other sat they will look for nearest sat because

while re tracking 83–>105.5 or 83–>75 i would be easy

its my point of view may be correct or may be not

55.
No chance of Tatasky because i have a doubt of they using heigh Symbolrate of 44000 .I dont know about Hits. is there a chance of Hits from ABS or others if so ?
HITS is already running from Asiasat 4 at 122 East , its launched here and few cable fellows using it

56. I am not telling there is no 44000 symbolrate but saying that no way of Tatasky using such heigh symbolrate. earlier this TP has 45000 too. may be heiger than this more than 50000 symbolrate also be used .

57. Bro 44000 symbol rate is there as these r 54 Mhz TP’s, currently on Insat 4A Tata Sky uses 36m Mhz TP so Symbol Rate is low. SR has no relation to know whether Tata Sky will use it or not

58. No chance of Tatasky because i have a doubt of they using heigh Symbolrate of 44000 .I dont know about Hits. is there a chance of Hits from ABS or others if so ?

59. now with both frequencies at same symbolrate again some chance of some DTH
Maybe some Bangladesh ? But why will bangladesh test Tamil πŸ˜€

60. Exactly.that i was also telling him . We can’t even take it as Testing these channels because of no such logo or any other source.

61. Sun Direct did Test channels on Asiasat 5 before finally starting from Measat
Airtel digital tv also tested but they tested with its Logo which was easy for us to find out.

But here the scenario is different as we are not able to find out the exact reason for testing and who is doing it

62.
Also read this

http://www.absatellite.net/support/support-hotlines/
This doesn’t say as they have to test channels publically before handing to certain operators.all works in backend itself. we even can’t get the certain TP in blind scan too. they can test in data stream or some thing technical methods that we can’t catch it.

63. But in ABS there is such a procedure, read this
http://www.absatellite.net/support/support-hotlines/

64. Brother i am talking about those dealers itself. read their all given informations since few months . you will get understand the real story.
One aspect you should read and understand that till now no Satellite operator has tested like this. you can see ST 2, Measat , Insat , SES 7 . There was no such Test done in ST2 before handing to D2H , no such test done in SES7 before handing to ADTV ,there was no such test done by Measat before handing to Sun Direct till today.

65. I have a doubt as one of the dealers has confirmed migration news, also these channels cannot be for DD Free Dish that i can assure you. They will stay at that orbit, infact they have just noe acqired new transponders on that sat. I am 90 percent sure that this is for Tata Sky. Slowly more tp’s will be tested and then handed over to tata sky

66. How can you say they are handing TPs to Tatasky ?? any informations/confirmations you have ? The news hobbling around forums of Tatasky Migrations are not confirmerd. those persons who are rumouring are changing satellites every second week or month. Tatasky may migrate or may not. According to me it’s just a rumour surely. for them there is no such crunch for space . they can add many Channels in the existing TPs itself once they convert them to MPEG4 if they are interested in adding.

Only Trace Sports HD Channel creating some confusions. else this may be DTH for Andaman Nicobar from DD . although they have it in C Band . they might even Broadcast DD FD as Insat 4B is ending soon because of power issue.
only time will confirm us. .

67.
As far as i seen No operator has tested many channels for long duration . even if they testing either they add their logo or scramble those channels. atleast they add testing logo for short period but here no such hapenned . in these circumstances All depends upon our calculations and thinking. according to me there is no such solid evidance of these channels are testing.
Bro, ABS Team would be testing it before handing TP’s to Tata Sky. They won’t add their logo on it as i do not think satellite companies do this.

Also if these channels are not testing then bro what is ur logic, pl share as i would love to hear it. Ku band can’t be used by broadcasters to relay their channels in India, they can only use C Band to uplink their channels

69. Which operator uses testing tag when they test channels? I have not seen any DTH operator doing it, also this testing may be from ABS end

70. 1 Thing still not confirmed as these channels are in testing phase. there is no logo/tag of Testing in all these 2 TP channels. so we can’t say as it’s testing .

71. Also Audio PID do not matter that much in testing phase, there can be any APID till the time testing is happening.

72. Really strange, may be TAC of ABS is in French Guiana and they are testing it from there

73. I Have noticed that few DD Channels showing French [fre] in audio PID. some have dual Audio PIDs.

Right but i was showing the provider name in the channels. πŸ™‚

75. BISAG are from 74 East and it is educational channels i think

76. look what is appearing in channels
BISAG 1 (Scopus) 11523, H, 1700

77. Actually i am seeing this type of testing [if so] that too without and Testing Tag from a Satellite provider .. every time the testing is done by a Network provider not from Satellite provider. I am really confused .

78. Bro, in India Broadcasters are only allowed to beam their channels through C band, Ku band can only be used for DTH or HITS. This is no rebroadcast as they are not using this service currently to anyone. They are simply testing the transponders with FTA Channels

79. If there is no need of permission for test a fta channels then they should add a Tag in those channels as it’s for Testing. if there is no such tags then it will be treated as Official re broadcast by that certain Provider.

80. Before handing over the satellite , TAC team tests the satellite. Its the company policy
http://www.absatellite.net/support/support-hotlines/

Also FTA channels can be tested by anyone, no permission is needed. Permission is only needed if u want to relay on a platform

81. No Installed a new one. bought a D2H HD Dish For Rs 325 /- without LNB. I was aligning that dish now.

82. So you moved dish to this satellite.. It is very strong signals right?

83. Yes now that TP got scan in Blind scan.

84. yes. the provider info mainly is of the TP and Satellite like how we see Tata Comm, Harmonic on Cband

85.
2 new frequencies with good signal started on ABS 2 satellite at 75 East Ku band

11734 H 45000 , DVB S
11794 H 44000, DVB S

Both frequencies have Indian Channels mostly DD channels and all those are running Free to Air
Just now checked . i am not getting 11734 H 45000 . dont know the reason.
can you check for the availability of signals in that TP? I tried but failed to get signals from that TP. other TPs are fine.

86. Any DTH is not testing including Tatasky. perhaps there is no need to test FTA for Tatasky in the name of other providers.

87. carrier width is 60MHz , Bitrate 40Mbit

88. Yes you are right no dth or group can test any FTA channels without its permission.

Trace Sports is surprise here, as only Airtel digital tv carried this channels before and airtel digital tv used to be at 74 East few years ago when they migrated, but trace sports was added only Ses7 only.

Kalaignar group channels are surprise as no dth has all its bouquet

All Channels have very good quality video

Must be something which we are missing to find out.

89.
No, it is confirmed from ABS as the provider info is showing ABS
Any chance of ABS Group launching new DTH or Hits for India? it’s very much confusing because of the Provider name as ABS. if it’s Tatasky then no need to test by ABS for Tatasky. AFAIK any Satellite network is not testing any other TV Channels even it’s FTA without the permission of certain operator unless they have the contract for those channels. correct me if wrong. these are rebroadcasting of channels by a provider . If it’s Tatasky then the provider name has to be Tatasky itself. it’s neither DD nor Tatasky.

90. Also all these channel are FTA Channels from broadcasters end so its perfect for testing purpose

91.
right now No idea , but do you hint it could be tatasky?

It has DD channels, tamil channels from kalaignar group, Trace sports HD, few devotional.. so its all mix right now.. or could it be some new DTH launching in India?

here is full 20 channels list http://www.dthhelp.net/Thread–20-Channels-Free-to-Air-on-ABS-2-at-75-East

I believe its for Tata Sky. No other DTH operator can use it as all have their hands full . ABS must be testing the TP’s after which they will hand it over to Tata Sky

In India , broadcasters can only relay their channels on C Band but in foreign countries if channels r allowed to air on Ku Band then may be these broadcasters r aiming Foreign Market and have started testing but chances r very slim as specially i don’t think DD Regional Channels would any day go to Foreign Country. Only DD India is meant for it

92. right now No idea , but do you hint it could be tatasky?

It has DD channels, tamil channels from kalaignar group, Trace sports HD, few devotional.. so its all mix right now.. or could it be some new DTH launching in India?

here is full 20 channels list http://www.dthhelp.net/Thread–20-Channels-Free-to-Air-on-ABS-2-at-75-East
