#1
MUMBAI: The English entertainment
genre again witnessed a shuffle in
Week 40, with AXN re-entering the
chart at the second spot pushing Star
World out of the top three. The
English movie channels also saw a
change, with HBO again coming back
into the top three.
As per BARC data for the week ended 9
October, Zee Café continued its lead
in the English entertainment genre
due to surge in ratings.
AXN took the No. 2 position after a
week, pushing Comedy Central to the
third spot, despite the latter seeing a
rise in viewership.
Consequently, Star World, which was
No. 3 in the previous week, was
pushed out of the top three.

English movie channels

The English movie genre also
witnessed a change in hierarchy, with
HBO making it to the top three yet
again.
The top two channels—Movies Now
and Sony Pix—saw a drop in their
ratings during the week.
Star Movies, which was placed third in
the previous week, also witnessed a
big drop in viewership, thus allowing
HBO to take its place at the third spot
as it exited the top three in Week 40.

Top five movies

Although Star Movies slipped from the
third spot, it still managed to have
the top-rated movie of the week by
showcasing ‘Non-Stop’.
Sony Pix grabbed the second spot with
the American monster film ‘Godzilla’,
while Movies Now got the third spot by
airing ‘White House Down’.
For the first time, WB managed a spot
in the top five movies of the week by
airing ‘Resident Evil: Afterlife’,
which took the fourth spot. However,
the ratings of ‘White House Down’ and
‘Resident Evil: Afterlife’ were the
same.
The fifth spot went to HBO that aired
‘Escape Plan’.

Infotainment

Status quo prevailed in the
infotainment genre in the week ended
9 October. Discovery Channel held on
to its lead with a rise in ratings,
while National Geographic stood
second despite a slight drop in
ratings.
History TV18 remained at the third
spot and witnessed a drop in
viewership in Week 40.
This was the third consecutive week
that saw no change in the genre.

Kids

The kids genre remained stable with
Nick, Pogo and Cartoon Network held
on to their respective positions. The
week also saw all three channels see a
steep fall in their respective
viewership.
