MUMBAI: With a commitment of making
India healthier and cleaner by 2019,
‘Dettol-NDTV Banega Swachh India’ is
all set to launch the second season
with campaign ambassador Amitabh
Bachchan across NDTV network
starting tomorrow.
After successfully completing a year
since the launch, the second year
initiatives will begin with the launch
of “Swachhta ki Paathshala” for
school children, which will be
conducted by Amitabh Bachchan along
with NDTV anchor Ravish Kumar.
Bachchan visits the Gandhi Shikshan
Bhawan in Mumbai and interacts with
the children, teaching them about
sanitation & hygiene. This unique
experience will be aired across NDTV
channels on Gandhi Jayanti, the 1st
Anniversary of the Prime Minister’s
Swachh Bharat campaign.
In its second year nationwide
initiative Dettol-NDTV Banega Swachh
India, the focus will be on driving
behaviour change amongst school
children and communities. Dettol in
partnership with NDTV, XSEED and
Butterfly EduFields has developed a
hygiene curriculum for children in
primary schools across the country.
The curriculum has been developed in
four languages – Hindi, English, Tamil
and Telugu, and will consist of
student workbook, teachers
curriculum manual and awareness
material such as teaching aids. In all,
there will be 45 lessons which will be
delivered through five modules over a
period of three years focussing on
Personal Hygiene, Hygiene at Home,
Hygiene at School, Hygiene in the
Neighbourhood and Hygiene During
Illness.
In the first year, the curriculum will
be used in 10,000 schools across the
states of Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh,
Telangana, Maharashtra, Bihar and
Tamil Nadu. The campaign will be
working together with the central
and state governments, NGOs and
citizens to ensure a maximum impact.
NDTV group CEO, Vikram Chandra said,
““This second October not only marks
one year of government’s Swachh
Bharat Abhiyaan but also marks the
beginning of the second season of
Dettol-NDTV Banega Swachh India
campaign. This season, we reaffirm
our commitment to the cause and we
will strive to take India a step closer
to becoming a healthy & hygienic
nation through our extensive
programming and awareness
initiatives.”
RB regional director South-Asia Nitish
Kapoor said,“Since launching the
Dettol-NDTV Banega Swachh India
campaign last year, we have made
considerable progress in
infrastructure creation and designing
behaviour change programs to
facilitate a more hygienic India. The
school hygiene curriculum has been
developed in partnership with the best
child educational experts at XSEED and
will be taught to 2.5 million school
children in both government and
private schools in the next 12 months.
We are also working with 200 villages
in Uttar Pradesh & Bihar to make them
open-defecation free through a
community behaviour change program
and constructing over 25,000 toilets
with the Swades Foundation & Save
the Children. We are extremely proud
to continue our partnership with NDTV
and Mr. Amitabh Bachchan as we move
into the second year of supporting the
Swachh Bharat Mission of the
government – which is critical to
improving national health and
hygiene.”
