MSM’s content deal with NBCUniversal is for 7 years
MUMBAI: Multi Screen Media’s (MSM)
recently announced long term content
deal with NBCUniversal is for seven-
years. The deal will help MSM’s
English movie channel Pix become a
force to be reckoned with.
Speaking to, Pix/
AXN executive VP, business head of
English entertainment Saurabh Yagnik
said, “The deal is for seven years. We
have access to over 100 titles each
He added that the deal becomes
effective from January 2016. “We now
have output deals with SPE, MGM and
NBCUniversal,” he added.
While not commenting on rights value,
Yagnik noted that they have steadily
been going up. He, however, clarified
that this deal is only for movies,
which means that the content will air
only on Pix as AXN no longer airs
The deal gives MSM rights to
Universal’s upcoming as well as latest
movie releases such as ‘Fast & Furious
7’, ‘Jurassic World’, ‘Ted 2’, ‘Pitch
Perfect 2’ and Illumination
Entertainment’s ‘Minions’ as well as
the first installment in the studio’s
various blockbuster franchises such as
‘Jurassic Park’, ‘The Mummy’, ‘The
Fast & Furious’, ‘The Hulk’ and
‘Despicable Me’, apart from
‘Gladiator’, the first three films in
the ‘Rambo’ franchise, ‘King Kong’,
‘Schindler’s List’, ‘Ted’ and ‘Notting
Hill’, amongst others.
Prior to MSM, the rights were with
Star India.
It is worth noting that Star India,
which has a huge library, recently
launched Star Movies Select, a
premiere HD movie channel with a
proposition of ‘365 days 365 stories’.
