CHANNEL LIST TV channels to follow 12-minute ad limit from 1 October
#1
New Delhi: The broadcasting industry Monday agreed to abide by a 12-minute limit on advertising per hour of programming starting 1 October, agreeing to toe the regulator’s line.

The decision was made after broadcast industry representatives met Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai) officials, according to internal communications that Mint has reviewed.

Earlier this month, Trai issued a notification asking television channels to stick to the advertising limit. The regulator had issued the quality of service norms in May 2012 as well. However, the channels didn’t comply and challenged the jurisdiction of Trai in the matter in the Telecom Disputes Settlement and Appellate Tribunal (TDSAT).

The broadcasters agreed to a phased shift to the limit following Trai’s unwillingness to relent.

You are misunderstand the news. This is limit for 12 min for every channel not more than 12 min/hour.

This is not compulsory 12 min ad.for every channel.

Good news. Poor Raj & Jaya TV till now as they don't have much programming they were surviving on Ads to run 24/7. Now what will they do? Own ads like they will be showing xx on xx time like that are allowed?Ads which runs for 30mins to sell chains, medicines, land etc.,. will be stopped or they will be claimed to be serials?

I still did not find any difference in ad breaks. Was this implemented or not?
