Tata(Sky feels the pinch as GSat12 at 83.0°E does not have Ku-band transponders

Dear friends,

Amidst news of Tata(Sky adding new channels on their existing satellite Insat 4A at 83.0°E, they had a ray of hope with the launch of GSat12 in July 2011.

GSat12 is co-located with Insat 4A at 83.0°E. So it would have been a win-win situation without the need for re-aligning millions of dish antennas.

However much to the disappointment of Tata(Sky, this GSat12 has only Extended C-band transponders and not a single Ku-band transponder.

Over-utilization of Insat 4A by increasing beams may lead to its decreased service life or irreversible failure.

This Is For GSAT 12 To Be Launched... and Mr. Copy Cat Has Started New Thread Checking If GSAT 8 Has Shifted From 55 to 83 Orbital Direction...

Many Members Dont Know If The SAT Can Be Shifted From One Orbital Position To Other... There Was One Example Happened In Last 6 Months... Check One Of The Satellites Of ASIASAT...

GSAT 10 which is about to launch in 2012 will have 12 Ku Band TPs. TATA Sky has to wait for that to launch , no other options except moving other satellite to its current orbit.
