Zee Café takes lead in Eng ent, Pix moves up in movies, CN back in kids genre
MUMBAI: The week ended 2 October
saw a shift in the English channel
space, with Zee Café coming back to
take the lead in the English
entertainment genre, Sony Pix moving
up to No. 2 in the English movie genre
and Cartoon Network re-entering the
kids genre at No. 3.
Surprisingly, the top two channels in
the English entertainment genre
witnessed a big drop in their ratings in
Week 39. Previous week’s leader
Comedy Central saw a big drop in
ratings, which caused it to slip to the
second spot.
Consequently, Zee Café moved up a
step to reach the No. 1 position.
Although Zee Café also saw a fall in
viewership, its fall was marginal
compared to Comedy Central.
The third place in the genre saw the
re-entry of Star World, which pushed
AXN out of the top three.

English movies

The English movie genre saw a flip-

up to the second spot, displacing Star

Top 5 movies

‘Drunken Master’ on Pix was the top-
rated movie of the week, followed by
the ‘The Wrath of Vajra’ on genre
leader Movies Now. Pix took the third
spot by dint of the superhero movie
‘Iron Man 2’.
Interestingly, the fourth spot on the
chart went to HBO for its airing of a
filler, ‘Max Life Insurance Time
Check’. This is the first time that a
filler has managed to make it to the
top movies in a week. Moreover, the
filler and ‘Iron Man 2’ on Pix got the
same ratings.
Rounding off the top five was
‘Journey 2: The Mysterious Island’,
which was telecast on Movies Now.

Week 39 also brought about a change
in the kids genre, with Cartoon
Network coming back to the third
spot. It displaced Hungama, which got
pushed out of the top three.
Nick continued its lead for yet
another week, seeing a slight gain in
viewership. Meanwhile, Pogo, at No.
2, had to face a marginal drop in
ratings during the week.

Similar to the previous week, there
was no change in the infotainment
