How ‘Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah’ has entertained audiences since 7 years

MUMBAI: As one of the most popular
comedy show on television ‘Taarak
Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah’ completes
seven years on 28 July, one takes a
look back on how the daily family show
has been entertaining audiences with
clean comedy.
Characters like Jethalal, Sodhi,
Tarak, Dr Haathi, Aiyyer, Bhide and
Popatlal in Gokuldham Society that
represent seven different families
have been travelling together since
the last seven years to entertain
audiences.
Producer and creative director of the
show Asit Kumarr Modi said, “A very
important aspect of the show is that
it offers clean comedy that can be
watched by entire families together.
Besides this we also pick up social
issues and present them with comic
sense to make them interesting. In
seven years we never needed to take
generation leap because audience are
enjoying the various tracks.”
Another reason for the success of the
show is stated to be its think-tank.
Many of the actors and technical
staff whet the story before it is
developed into a script. Unless and
until at least 70 per cent of them find
it funny and interesting, it’s not
taken in for any track.
On the 7th anniversary of the show,
Modi mentions, “Making others laugh
is a difficult job but we have not ever
realized that 7 years have passed.
Achieving this milestone for a daily
comedy is unheard of. It’s the result
of love from our viewers and hard
dedicated work from the team of
actors and technicians alike. There is
still a long journey ahead.”
He added that viewers are yet to see
the fun by Tappu Sena in college,
marriage of Popatlal, a meeting with
Daya Ben’s mother among other such
incidents.
“I am sure viewers will keep loving
TMKOC and we will keep providing
wholesome family entertainment to
them.”
Daya Ben played by Disha Vakani is an
integral character of the show. She
mentioned, “Even today it feels as if
we just began shooting yesterday
only. Even today story tracks are
refreshing.”
Tappu aka Bhavya Gandhi said, “We all
were small kids when we all had
started shooting. Working for Asit ji,
I didn’t even realize when I grew up.
In real as well as reel life we all have
moved into college. Time has just
flown by. Now we have two families,
one at home and one on the set.”
‘Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah’,
produced by Neela Tele Films,
conceived and designed by Asit Kumarr
Modi, airs on SAB TV from Monday to
Friday at 8.30 pm.
