Zee Tamizh to re-telecast Sun TV’s classic soap after five years

MUMBAI: It first ran for about six years on the leading Tamil general entertainment channel (GEC) Sun TV and now the show is set to come back on Zee Tamizh after a gap of five years.

Starting 24 February, Zee Tamizh will re-telecast ‘Anandham’, one of the most popular daily soaps of Sun TV, which ran from November 2003 till February 2009 on the most popular Tamil channel.

The Sathya Jyothi Films’ production, which completed 1,297 episodes on Sun TV, will be aired on Zee Tamizh every Monday to Friday at 7 pm.

Zee Tamizh said the reason for the decision to re-telecast this serial is its “strong storyline, which has lots of twists and turns and has ability to engage the audience”.

The success of ‘Anandham’ lies in the fact that this family drama has all the elements such as business rivalry, romance, murders and other intrigues typical of Tamil soaps interwoven into it.

Incidentally, unlike the stereotypical Tamil tear-jerker, this show depicts successful, independent women.
